workshop

October 3, 2011

Back in August I had the fabulous opportunity to attend a workshop on baby posing. I’m so incredibly excited to have new skills and tricks for getting those amazing shots that parents love of their new babies!!  Besides getting to meet two awesome photographer teachers, I also got to meet some other photographers from around the country.  I feel like I have an even better understanding of posing (mostly little details, etc.), and an overwhelming urge to go out and hunt down my very own loft studio, lol.  Here are a few shots from the workshop:

Someone call a medic!

August 26, 2011

hee hee, I couldn’t resist.  Both of this little guy’s parents are medics for the army. Seriously, he’s was so cute!  If you scroll back up to the maternity session a post or two back, you’ll see his mommy and daddy.  Precious family!!

Kara Layfield: Adorable! So sweet and tiny in the second.

This handsome guy’s mama is an amazing pianist. I’m sure that he will grow up hearing beautiful music and even learning to play some himself.  This little man was a dream to shoot!  His family won me over instantly with their Texas connections, too!!

Kara Layfield: Love your newborn work! Just precious!

ashley: Oh my! These are Gorgeous! Beautiful work, Bree!

Kimberly Neyer: I love the shot on the piano - that blue is just so pretty! Thanks for stopping by my blog today :)

I love doing maternity sessions for several reasons.  First, I get to meet and see the mama before the baby comes.  Second, once the baby comes, we’ve already got a fun relaxed relationship going.  Third, I get to see how excited the parents are before that precious one arrives!  I love it.  I love meeting a soon-to-be mama and then getting to hold that newborn a few weeks later. There is something so beautiful in the journey for me as a photographer.

Tasha, this gorgeous mama-to-be, was extra sweet to me and laughed at my dumb jokes and was such a sweetheart.  Every couple is different, but this will be my 3rd daddy named Jason.  That’s a first for me!  He had the longest legs by far and put up with all the different ways I tried to pose him, bless his heart.

Thanks guys for putting up with my silly observations and awkward (until we got it right) posing, ha!

Kara Layfield: Gorgeous location and use of light! They look so happy!

Danielle Frank: Just beautiful - amazing light!

This is the second cousin that I was able to shoot while I was in Texas.  Lucky for us, this little guy was born just shy of a month before my trip so we attempted some images of this guy outside and fortunately he went to putty in the Texas heat! Love that!! This truck was also a new prop that baby Cade broke in for me.  Isn’t he precious?

Jim Davis: Love these images! The truck is great!

Another from my Texas sessions, this family is special to me because they were both very close to me throughout college.  It is so very fun to me that these two are making a life together.   These guys would fulfill my own personal definition of a power couple!

Every so often, I am blessed to get to travel back to Texas to see my family and this time I photographed my cousin Rance and his wife Abby and their son Rylan.  It was so much fun to get to hang out with them and love on my family.  These guys are so sweet and Abby did an amazing job dressing her family!!  They are definitely a “what to wear” example!!

This girl of mine is always in princess dresses or something frilly.  She is sooooo not like her mama in that way.

I am so lucky that in my job I get to meet so many military families.  I am thankful for the opportunity to say thank you for what they do for me and my family as well as take images of those heroes and their children.  This little guy’s dad has been deployed several times and is a true hero. I hope this little guy knows and appreciates all that his father did to help our country be what it is today!

With dad as a pro golfer, what else could this little guy be but a wonderful victory!   I know this sweet baby will be on the greens in no time, but it is always sweet to celebrate the newness and tiny little being that is so fresh and perfect?  Welcome to the world!
